Spring 2025 Update
Since my trip to Florida, I’ve truly hit the ground running! I have been incredibly busy—from diving back into my Disney library research and connecting with fellow researchers, to writing Substack posts and creating content on Instagram. There’s been so much to do and catch up on, but honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. With everything that’s been going on lately, I figured I was long overdue for an update!
Digging Deeper into Disney’s Library History
My Disney library research has been going very well lately, thanks to a former researcher from the Disney Research Library (hi Nancy, if you’re reading this!).
Nancy has been instrumental in helping me fill in the gaps to uncover some details I either wasn’t clear on or didn’t even know existed. I’ve now had the opportunity to speak with a few former employees, but Nancy has gone above and beyond in sharing her knowledge and answering my questions. Without her help, I wouldn’t be where I am now with my project without her support.
Despite how well my research has been going, time has been tricky to come by lately to dedicate to it. April, May and June are already shaping up to be jam-packed months. Still, I’m carving out moments here and there to keep chipping away and I’m especially looking forward to dedicating more focused time to my work over the summer months.
Podcast Guest Debut!
This is a first for me, but I was recently a guest on a podcast! In celebration of National Library Week, I joined Eric from Synergy Loves Company to chat about Disney and libraries—two of my favourite things! I had such a blast and really enjoyed the experience. What I’ve Been Reading
As busy as things have been, I’ve still been trying to squeeze in time to read when I can. Right now, I’m making my way through After Disney: Toil, Trouble, and the Transformation of America's Favorite Media Company by Neil O’Brien. It explores what happened at The Walt Disney Company following Walt’s death in 1966. It’s such a fantastic read! I’m hooked and hoping to finish it this week (wish me luck)!
What’s Next?
Looking ahead, I’ll be balancing my full-time job with research and content creation throughout the spring, and then (fingers crossed) diving deeper into my Disney research once summer break begins. I’ve got a few exciting ideas in the works, both for how to share my findings and how to grow this community, so stay tuned!
