Hi Everyone,
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the kind of space I want to create here on Main Street Library. Up until now, I’ve used Substack to share updates on my own research journey, deep-dives into Disney history, and recommendations for books and resources.
I’ll absolutely continue doing all of that, but I also want to go beyond this. My hope is to build a space that supports your curiosities too. Whether you’re casually interested in Disney’s past or deep into your own research project, I want Main Street Library to offer tools, support, and community to help you along the way.
So today, I want to share a few updates about what’s new (and what’s coming soon) to this growing library:
What’s New
As of this month, I’m excited to introduce a couple new features for subscribers:
🔎 “Ask the Librarian” Research Help: Need help finding a source, organizing your thoughts, or figuring out your next research step? Reach out to me for support!
🏛️ Visits & Collections: Spotlighting Disney archives, libraries, museums, collections, and unique research spaces, including fan collections and fictional places too!
📝 Research Tools: A hub for tools, sources, and materials that not only support my Disney research, but can support your work too. This space will be continually added to (keep reading to see some of the things that are coming soon).
Coming Soon
I’ve got some ideas brewing and I’d love your feedback! Let me know in the comments if any of these would be especially helpful to you:
📚 Disney History Resource List: A growing, curated list of books, institutions, websites, and more, to help guide your Disney research journey.
🎥 Monthly Virtual Meet-Ups: Optional virtual meet-ups where we can chat about what we’re researching and spend time working on our projects together.
📂 Printable Tools: This is still a work in progress, but I’m hoping to develop some helpful resources, and I’m open to suggestions! If there is anything in particular you are looking for, let me know in the comments.
💬 Library Chat Space: A space where you can ask questions, share discoveries, and connect with other Disney history fans.
Why I’m Doing This
By day, I’m a librarian—by heart, I’m a Disney history nerd. This little corner of the internet is my way of combining both passions to create my own little version of a digital library devoted to Disney history.
So if you’re a fellow researcher or just someone who loves learning about Disney history, consider subscribing so you don’t miss future content. And if you know someone else who might love this, feel free to share.
Thanks so much for being here. I hope you’re as excited about these additions to Main Street Library as I am. Here’s to building a digital space filled with magic!
